AFINET

Innovation in the case study

AFINET aimed to gather all the information from both existing sources and the RAINS so that agroforestry practitioners would be able to find the latest knowledge and innovative practices on one platform.

The project also allowed for the creation of target groups and social networks. One of the inspirations was to reduce greenhouse gases and to come to a united solution that also responded to the challenges of the real world.

First, national thematic networks were defined: type of actors (farmers, multipliers, researchers, policy makers, retailers) and their governance, as well as a logistical infrastructure of facilitators interacting with these actors.

Second, the RAINS’ work and the knowledge network were developed. This stage included:
a. National and European co-creation of solutions and innovations for agroforestry in recognition of challenges.
b. Prioritisation of innovations and identification of synergies.
