Innovation in the case study

The innovation comes from the generation of innovative business models and production changes that help valorise the aromatic and medicinal plants that traditionally grow in the territories involved.

Promoting these innovations was believed to be in itself an innovative way of helping these marginal agricultural areas to boost their options and develop through business diversification and value-adding. It therefore involved many stages, from the identification of the plants and mapping them to contacting producers and capacity building.

Each territory was at a different development level and thus, each partner focused on a particular phase; some more initial, such as the PT case study, others more advanced, such as Andalusia, which focused more on the business development stage.
