Innovation in the case study
If realised, this project will result in a product innovation where new materials (wood) will be used instead of concrete to construct buildings. This will demand new technical solutions for building tall buildings – fostering technical innovation that is potentially radical and disruptive.
It will change the use of materials for building tall buildings; new value chains must be established for the building industry, and new ways of building must be developed.
Presumably, if realised, there will also be a need to adapt regulations for tall buildings. This means that product innovation may lead to other types of innovation, such as organisational and regulatory innovation.
Additionally, the process of developing a new concept for tall urban buildings is a new way of working, making the method and the process of interaction with multiple actors a process innovation.
