SKOGSKOLLO

Innovation in the case study

The idea and method of promoting gender equality through gendered summer camps is the social innovation feature of Skogskollo. The female initiator emphasises that young women play a major role in the future by providing skilled labour in the forestry sector.

However, it is necessary for young women to understand that this is an industry for them, and Skogskollo must find the methods and processes to mediate that.

In terms of the innovation spiral phases, Skogskollo has moved from the initial idea (inspiration and planning) to development, realisation and dissemination. They are now in a transition process towards a new development.

Forestry

Innovation is currently brewing as the actors are rethinking the camps’ format and target group due to criticism from schools for focusing only on girls. They now have more experience and are working on an expanded understanding of the concept of equality.
